Helping SERVPRO Out With Tahoe Flood Damage Mitigation

SERVPRO knows that even when you do your best, some disasters are too big to be overcome alone.

Flood Damage Mitigation

In the aftermath of Tahoe flood damage, assuming standing water is gone, and the area is relatively safe, there are many things you can do to start the process of recovery early and make our job easier. You can set out upholstery and cushions to dry, elevate furniture off the ground, start mopping up stray water, organize the area, and conduct many more small tasks that can make a big difference for SERVPRO later on.

When Should I Leave Things Alone?
While we appreciate any help we can get, there are some circumstances in which the best thing you can do to help us treat flood damage to your Tahoe home is to stand by and cooperate with our technicians. Most of the time, our concerns have to do with safety, as some floods can create especially dangerous conditions within the home. If any water with measurable depth remains on the floor, do not enter the area. If you've reason to believe that the structure may be unstable or electronics and electrical systems may pose an electrocution threat, steer clear of the area. In general, if there is any question on whether or not the area is safe to re-enter, wait for a SERVPRO technician to arrive and advise before heading in.

What Can I Do If All Seems Clear?
If you have been given the go-ahead by SERVPRO employees or otherwise feel that there is minimal risk of danger, you can start with common-sense cleanup measures and tasks. Separate objects so they can dry out faster and do not get a chance to bleed into one another. Mop hard surfaces to remove excess moisture. If you feel that you're capable of additional work, ask our technicians what else you can do to assist. Simple considerations like these can end up saving a great deal of time for us and lead to hundreds or thousands of dollars saved for you.
